Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Class Fee: $30 (Includes practice quilt sandwich)

Ready to take your free-motion quilting skills to the next level? Whether you're just getting started or looking to improve your technique, come join Cody for a fun, hands-on class all about learning, practicing, and building confidence with free-motion quilting on your domestic sewing machine!

We'll explore a dozen different free-motion quilting motifs, from simple designs to more creative patterns that will help you add beautiful texture and personality to your quilts.

But before we get those stitches flowing, we'll also cover how to properly prepare your quilt for free-motion quilting, including helpful tips for setting yourself up for smoother stitching and better results.

This class is all about having fun, experimenting with different designs, and discovering that free-motion quilting doesn't have to be intimidating. Remember, practice makes progress, not perfection!

What You'll Learn

  • How to properly prepare your quilt for free-motion quilting

  • Machine setup and techniques for smoother stitching

  • How to stitch a dozen different free-motion quilting motifs

  • Tips for improving stitch consistency, control, and confidence

What's Included

  • Practice quilt sandwich provided the day of class

  • Instruction and guided practice with 12 different free-motion quilting motifs

What to Bring

  • Your domestic sewing machine in good working condition

  • A free-motion quilting foot, sometimes called an embroidery or darning foot. For BERNINA machines, examples include Feet #9, #15, #24, #26, or the BERNINA Stitch Regulator (BSR), depending on your machine. Other sewing machine brands offer compatible free-motion feet as well.

  • Your machine's accessories, including the power cord, foot control, and any tools needed to change your presser foot

IMPORTANT: Your sewing machine must have the ability to lower or drop its feed dogs for free-motion quilting.

A Little Tip from Cody!

While those small, lightweight travel machines are wonderful for many things, they're not always the best choice for free-motion quilting! We recommend bringing a full-size sewing machine with a comfortable amount of workspace. Having a little extra room to maneuver your quilt will make your quilting experience much more enjoyable!
